Captain Williams School, West Garo Hills

Capt. William's School (CWS), a co-ed day school, was founded in April 2009 with a view to provide quality education to the children of this small town of Tura, Meghalaya. The guiding force in the opening of this school was to commemorate the many contributions made by the first Chief Minister of the state of Meghalaya Lt. Captain Williamson A. Sangma who spearheaded the movement to attain statehood way back in the early 70's. The school is run by Society, registered under the Meghalaya Societies Registration Act, XII of 1983. The school has a Managing Committee that caters to all the academic needs. The Managing Committee body comprises mostly of retired educationists of the state.

The school aims to provide quality education and all round development of the students of this remote town. The school's endeavour is to focus constantly on creating the leaders of tomorrow by laying more stress on discipline, group and individual activities, value education and to inculcate a sense of national integration among the students. The school admits students irrespective of any caste, creed, religion, community or social status.
