Don Bosco School Bandel, founded in January 1978, is an English Medium, Anglo-Indian School for Catholics and Anglo-Indian boys founded and administered by the Salesians of Don Bosco. It is a minority institution belonging to the Catholic Church. Provision is also made for the admission of non-Catholic boys. It is recognized by the Education Department of the Government of West Bengal and affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi. Don Bosco Bandel fulfills the vision of St. John Bosco, Priest and Educator of the 19th century. The Father and Friend of youth, whose sole mission in life was the welfare of the youth, brought about a revolution in the concept of education. The method of education followed in the school is the Preventive System taught and practised by Don Bosco. It is based on Reason, Religion and Loving Kindness. Within a short span of less than fifty years, Don Bosco Bandel has proved its caliber both in curricular and co-curricular activities. Presently the school has 72 teaching staff, 31 non-teaching staff and 2200 students on its rolls.
